VeilMaps Privacy Notice

This notice describes the information VeilMaps uses to provide synced projects, collaboration, security, and offline workflows.

Information we process

We process your Veil account information, project geometry, layers, annotations, collaborators, revision history, device and security signals, and support communications. Location is used only when you choose a feature that needs it.

How it is used

Information is used to authenticate you, save and synchronize projects, provide sharing and history, prevent abuse, maintain the service, and comply with law.

External map and data providers

When you choose a provider layer or data tool, VeilMaps sends the point or map-view coordinates needed to retrieve relevant imagery, weather, aviation, marine, environmental, or astronomy data. Requests may pass through VeilMaps or go directly from your browser to government and public-data services such as NASA Earthdata, NOAA, FAA, USGS, USDA, and the U.S. Naval Observatory. A browser-direct layer can reveal your IP address, network or browser metadata, and the tiles or area you view to that provider. VeilMaps does not intentionally include your project content, account details, or Veil identity in these provider data requests. Each provider handles the request under its own policies.

Sharing and visibility

Project content is private unless you invite collaborators or create a share link. People with access may export or copy what you share with them.

Retention and control

Project and revision data is retained to provide your workspace and durable history. You can delete projects, remove collaborators, revoke links, and contact Veil about account or privacy requests.

Security

VeilMaps uses a product-specific session, protected cookies, scoped project authorization, and server-side access checks. No system can guarantee absolute security, so report suspected account compromise promptly.
